Happy Monday!

I just came back from the library, and I checked out a book that's about, umm... *grabs book and checks* 1,408 pages *hears people gasp*. Yep, about 1.4 thousand pages. Of couse, it's by Leo Tolstoy. The Russian dude.

If you still haven't guessed, the book is War and Peace. And I'm only on page 10. Ms. Ceasar can't complain that I didn't read anything worthwhile over the summer. Actually, this book will most probably take me the whole summer to read.

If it were a perfect world, I would finish it by the end of this week.

Well, if it were a perfect world, I'd be a famous author by now, Sarah and Stephanie Meyer would be BFF's, George Lucas would have made 9 Star Wars movies, and my brother would have won the Indy 500.

But, unfortunately, it isn't a perfect world. And I just want to be a famous author, and Sarah just wants to meet Stephanie, and George wanted to make 9 movies, and my brother wants to be a race-car driver. All of it is what people want. Everyone thinks/knows that if you want something, you will get it. But that's not always necessarily true. You need talent. To become a famous author, I need to be good at writing. To meet Stephanie Meyer, Sarah has to be good at bugging people up the chain. To make more Star Wars movies, George Lucas has to have the talent to come up with more stories. And to be a race car driver, my little brother has to be good at driving cars fast without crashing them.

You need talent to do things that you want to do. People always say that if you can put your mind to something, you can achieve it. But you need the talent to do it. You have to be good at acting to be an actor, you have to be good at singing to be a singer, and you have to have a talented group of musicians to form a band. I could never be a dancer, because I don't have the talent to dance. Melissa can't be a clarinet player, cause her talent is at the french horn. Andy can't break dance at the talent show, because his talent is Chinese yo-yos.

I don't mean to squish any one's dreams, but you need talent for certain things. I would like to be an actor, but I know that most probably that won't happen, because I'm not good at acting. I save being an actor for daydreaming. It's very rare that someone can become an expert at something that they're not naturally good at, just by taking classes. They may become better, but they most probably won't be good enough to make it professionally.

That's it. Talent is one of the few secrets to success. I know it may sound cliche, but the other ones are
~Believe in yourself
~Hard work/dedication
~Will to succeed.

No matter what some people say, talent does matter. And you need talent for almost anything.

Freaked out by the length of her post,

~Me/ப்ரீத்தி/ Princess Leia/ Mara Jade.

(p.s. I now officially own Star Wars Battlefront II! Be ready for video game rants! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!)

Oh yeah, I was trying to make a point. If andy breakdanced, it wouldn't be as good as his chinese yo-yos.

*sigh*

who knows? maybe andy's special talent is breakdancing but he doesn't know it yet because he hasn't tried it. or maybe he has already tried it and he knows it's his special talent but it's a secret. maybe i secretly play the clarinet...
